Welcome to Grossman Camp Knitting

Welcome to Grossman Camp Knitting! The campers know me as "Joy of Knitting." I have been knitting for over 20 years, and during the school year I teach Knitting to adults through Community Adult Education and to children at my local library.

I LOVE my job at Grossman Camp; nothing makes me happier than to see children get excited about knitting! So many campers have learned to knit with knitting needles this summer. I am so proud of all of them for trying & learning a new skill.

Alexandre, Joseph, Jacob, & Eitan chose Knitting for their Chugim. They come and sit, chat and knit for 40 min, 4 times per week, for two weeks in a row. They tell me that they're planning to choose Knitting for the rest of the summer! Who will win the "Longest Snake of the Summer" contest?? Stay tuned to find out!

More Grossman Camp Knitting Photos!

As Week 4 comes to an end, the "Chugim" knitters show off their [mostly] finished projects for the camera. They earn ribbons for completion, along with the promise of having their photo posted here!

Grossman Camp Knitting Knews (Part 1)

Knitting at Grossman Camp continues to provide campers with a creative outlet in a relaxed environment. Young knitters use their fingers or large red "spools." So far this summer, they have knit colorful headbands, necklaces, popsicles, finger puppets, rattlesnakes, and jump ropes. Older campers have learned to knit using knitting needles (US size 8) and have created bookmarks, key chains, change purses, fashionable scarves, adorable sheep, juggling balls, and bean bags. Non-knitters have made colorful pom-poms, yarn dolls, and yarn octopuses. Knitting is a popular Chugim option for boys and girls alike. I en"joy" seeing the campers wearing their creations as they arrive at camp each morning!

The campers are VERY proud of their Knitting accomplishments! Here are a few of their finished projects... (These photos were taken with my cell phone camera, so they are not as sharp as I would like them to be!)
